(for version 3.0)
Installing
Follow the simple steps below to install SnapDex ver3.0. If
you experience any problems, please report to web@snapdex.com
and we will install this software for free of charge! If you are
upgrading from v2.0, do not use this method! Use this method only
if this is your first time installing SnapDex.
- 1.) Download & unzip the
files to a directory on your computer.
- 2.) Upload all of the files to
a directory on your server. Upload everything except the image
files in ASCII mode.
- 3.) Run the install.html file.
If you have uploaded into a directory named 'links' on a
domain name called 'joebob.com' - then the URL will be
joebob.com/links/install.html.
- 4.) Fill out the form
accordingly. If you have any questions about things that the
install form requires, ask your web host provider.
- 5.) CHMOD the directory
'/admin/udata' to 777.
- 6.) CHMOD the files header.php
& footer.php in the root directory to 666.
- 7.) Run '/admin' (standard
username is admin and password is password).
Begin by adding categories and then links to those categories.
Upgrading
Use only if upgrading from version 2.0 to 3.0. If you
experience any problems, please report to web@snapdex.com.
Using the upgrade method may disable some features such as the
header/footer customization from the admin. Please make sure you
do not overwrite your current header and footer files if you wish
to keep them as is. If you did modify other PHP files prior to
upgrading, these modifications will be deleted. Upgrade at your
own risk.
- 1.) Download & unzip the
files to a directory on your computer.
- 2.) Upload all of the files to
a directory on your server. Upload everything except the image
files in ASCII mode. If you wish to keep your current header
and footer files, then do not overwrite those.
- 3.) Run the upgrade.html file.
- 5.) Upgrade should be
complete.
Customizing
SnapDex provides an easy way to make your entire website look
the same and run under one template. Follow the steps below.
Please be warned that when modifying files in a program such as
Dreamweaver or FrontPage, you may actually disable features or
trigger bugs in the script. Customize at your own risk.
- There are two methods to
customize SnapDex. You can modify the files them self or
modify the header and footers in the administration panel. If
you need further instructions, please contact web@snapdex.com.
We can also customize SnapDex to fit your look for a small fee
of $45.

If you experience problems, please contact web@snapdex.com
and we will do our best to assist you. If fixing your problem
means additional programming time, there is a fee of $35 plus $10
every additional hour.

-No mySQL connection-
:: Make sure you configured mysql login details correctly.
-No database selected-
:: Make sure the database you specified in config.inc.php
exists.
